My establishing scene is going to set in the living room of the two main characters in my play (the couple), straight away this recognises for the listeners who my two main characters are so they can become familiar with them. I want it to be of an evening time and have the couple sitting together on the living room her drinking a glass of wine and him drinking a can of beer. You can hear eastenders on in the background therefore you know that it is night time. They are casually talking about things such as work, and he mentions something about being scared. She then mentions about he cant talk about scared after he scared the living daylights out of her on their wedding day.
TO CHANGE THE SCENE I WILL NEED A TRANSITION TO GO HERE THAT HIGHLIGHTS THE CHANGE, MAYBE A FADE OR A LONGER PAUSE.
The development of the story is going to be the night before the wedding and i want the scenes to keep flicking between eachother of what the man and the woman are doing. The woman is going to be in a hotel room with her bridesmaids music playing in the background and them all laughing and gossiping and having fun. On the other hand the men have been typical men and are going out on the town to get drunk, they will be in a bar messing about and joking with eachother. I want the scenes to flick between eachother really fast with no pauses so the audience are kept interested and it speeds the story line up a little bit.
The climax is going to be when the girls in the hotel get a phone call from the boys, the phone call is off the husband of the head bridesmaid and he tells them that he cant find the groom, he said he'd gone the toilet and he'd gone missing however they are all going to stay up all night until they find him so they assured the girls not to worry as it'll be all sorted for the big day. However the boys cant find him and they give up searching in hope that he will turn up in the morning and everything will be fine. Meanwhile, morning appears and there is still no hope as he hasnt turned up to the boys hotel, the boys ring the girls however they try and keep it from the bride because they dont want her to worry. The boys tell the girls once again it'll be fine they know he will turn up.
The resolution is going to be seconds before they boys are about to leave to have once final search he slumbers through the door still in his clothes from last night, he tells them that he ended up sleeping on a park bench because he couldnt even remember the hotel name for someone to give him directions. They all joke about saying that they thought he werent going to turn up etc, they all travel to the wedding and as the groom comes through the door the church offers a sign of relief. The bride enters after and she is so relieved to see him standing at the front of the altar. We then get little snipets of the wedding untill they are officially married.
THE SAME TRANSITION THAT WAS USED AT THE START WILL BE USED HERE TO SIGNIFY THAT ITS GOING BACK IN TO THE PRESENT AND THAT THEY ARE BACK IN THE SAME SCENERY.
In ending scene i want it to end with eastenders finishing in the background to show a passage of time. They joke about, the man saying that it was all put on to scare her and that he was always going to turn up at the wedding.

Further Reseach into 'I Do?'

The couple show lots of connections between them both as they are suffering a terrible time. It shows her committing to what he wants to do before he passes away. This is the kind of connection that i want to get between my two characters. Even though couples may have that humourous arguementative side between them they will always have a bond that connects them because they love eachother. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00fsylj

Research for final idea: 'I Do?'
I decided to choose idea 5 as my final idea because i really liked the idea of working within the genre of comedy and i think that i will have lots to explore.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/comedy/safetycatch.shtml
Safety catch is a radio play shown of radio 4. After listening to it i decided to use this as part of my research because they humour in it between the man and woman was comical and also it contained a 'problem' within the story line which is something i want to do.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outnumbered
Outnumbered is a fantastic sitcom to look at because theres such classic humour between the whole family. They also tend to have little problems arise usually by the children which then causes humourous conflict between the parents.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Family
My family is another sitcom which like outnumbered contains a family that have humour go on among them.
http://www.suite101.com/content/new-jimmy-mcgovern-series-accused-to-be-shown-on-bbc-one-a305973
This programme shows a man and woman, the man is having problems and his girlfriend is moaning at him which creates humour between them.
http://www.corrie.net/profiles/characters/duckworth_jack.html
The link above is to a profile about jack and vera duckworth in coronation street. Over the many years they had been on coronation street they offered such a good relationship between the two. They have been through ups and downs but still show a great relationship. I love the way that Jack is always getting into trouble and Vera the strong woman she is always gives him a smack and tells him off.
http://www.oregoncounseling.org/ArticlesPapers/Documents/DifferencesMenWomen.htm
This website i found enabled me to get a understanding on the differences between men and woman. The main thing that stood out to me was the different way men and woman react to things, woman are more worried in sitations whereas men can stay more calm.

Radio Play Ideas
Idea 1
Rape/Prostitution
I had the idea of a young girl aged around 18years old who was just about to start her university life, although her mom and dad didnt want her to move away she has persuaded them to let her move to university in London. However, she gets into the wrong crowd and is drawn into prositution.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taken_(film)
This film is based on a girl who moves to paris with her friend, it links to my idea because in both a girl has moved away from home and has been drawn into something which is not good.
Idea 2
Peer Pressure
A further idea that i have came up with is having a boy aged around 16 moved to a new school due to his parents moving house. However, to fit in he gets in with the 'cool kids' and they lead him into something bad (fight/drugs/drinking). Now he has the police at his door asking him questions, will he admit to the crime or will he lie to stay in with the gang?
http://hubpages.com/hub/Eastenders-Billy-Jackson-Dies-in-Shocking-Scenes
Ive uploaded this link as it tells us the storyline, however it also says that it happened to show the effects of binge drinking and also the problems that we have in society today.
http://kidshealth.org/kid/feeling/friend/peer_pressure.html
The link above is a website that is made for children if they ever feel like they are suffering from peer pressure, reading this will help me if i choose to use this play because it will help me deepen my understanding.
Idea 3
Dissociative identity disorder(split personality)
My 3rd idea was to have a woman suffering from split personality disorder, one minute she is going to be nice and the next evil and horrible. Shes just got with a new boyfriend, however he doesnt know shes suffering from it untill one day she turns evil on him.
http://www.listal.com/movie/me-myself-irene
I chose to look at this film for a idea because it also contains the split personality disorder.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dissociative_identity_disorder
This link gives me information on the disorder, so if i chose to do this option then i would have a good knowledge of it and know how to portray it.
Idea 4
7/7 attacks
A diary themed play based on the london bombing attacks. 5 years after the attacks we meet a woman that lost her brother in the attacks. Its going to have her reading out her diary, but as if no ones listening to it. Its going to be very deep and personal however also highlighting the war's we have going on around the world and how they can affect family members.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7_July_2005_London_bombings
This link above gives us lots of details about the attack and everything that went on including investigations and the media approach.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nuhBdHc8Nqs
This video is really good because it shows us real life footage and also people speak on it that were actually there and tell us what they saw.
Idea 5
Typical married couple
Theres a married couple talking and reminising and then theyre wedding is brought up. At this point we are taken into the past and we relive the wedding with them. However it doesnt run as smoothly as they would have hoped. The bride is in a hotel room with all of her friends the night before laughing and drinking champagne when the headbride gets a phone call off her husband who is the best man telling us that they are all stupidly drunk and they have lost the groom. Hes not found all night however he turns up the next day and theres a massive sign of relief around the church when he turns up clean and looking smart. It then flips back in to the present with them just casually sitting with eachother like it was at the start of the play. I want this idea to be like a comedy drama and contain lots of humour between the couple.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hangover_(film)
The film the hangover is a very good film to look at if i did they idea, because the groom is also lost on this film with his wedding to occour the next day. Furthermore it is also a comedy therefore i will be able to look at the humour in it and try and get something from it.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/comedy/safetycatch.shtml
Above is a radio play that is aired on BBC4, this radio play is a comedydrama and contains a man and woman. The storyline isnt silimar to what i want to do however it contains adult humour between the couple which is something i want to do in my play.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1231583/
Here is a imdp link to a film called due date, this film has only recently come out and is a link between a couple however in this its two men that are friends. I decided to look at it because it was a comedy and the humour in it is something that i want to do in mine.
